Justice Robert P. Young, Jr., announced yesterday that he will retire from the Michigan Supreme Court by April 30.  After holding the office of Chief Justice for six years, that mantle passed to Chief Justice Markman earlier this year.  Governor Snyder will soon appoint Justice Young&#39;s successor, who will then run for re-election in 2018, at the end of Justice Young&#39;s current term.  Known for his devotion to the rule of law, he deserves much credit for restoring cooperation and cordiality to the high court during his tenure as Chief Justice.
