 Justice Antonin Scalia died in his sleep last night while on a hunting trip in Texas.  Appointed to the United States Supreme Court by Ronald Reagan in 1986, Justice Scalia will likely be remembered as one of the most influential jurists in the history of the United States.  A stalwart of textualism and constitutional originalism, his views on the proper role of the courts have resonated with many jurists across the country.  He is also credited with awakening his colleagues to the virtues and art of engaging with counsel and stirring a lively debate at oral argument.  With the Presidential race approaching its apex, thoughts in Washington and across the country have already turned to the challenge of filling this vacancy on the nation&#39;s hightest court in the final months of the current administration.</p>
